Here at Glutafin, we are excited to be launching our new, improved gluten free fresh bread range. It has a brand new recipe that’s even tastier, and fresh new packaging that brings it in line with standard breads you see on the supermarket shelves.
To celebrate, we’ve put together our five favourite breakfast treats, each making the most of the fabulous new flavours to be found in our gluten free bread range. Whether you choose soft and fluffy fresh white, deliciously nutty fresh brown or scrumptiously crunchy seeded, you’ll be well on your way to giving yourself the very best, and most nutritious, start to the day with these five breakfast favourites:
A bacon butty may seem like the simplest of breakfasts, but there are so many variations, each with their own passionate supporters. For some the bacon simply has to be shatteringly crispy, while others like the juicy flavours of the fat. For some, the bread has to be toasted, while others swear by plain fresh bread. Perhaps the most divisive of all is the topping. The red or brown sauce debate has been raging for years, but we avoid it all by recommending a touch of mayo to complete your treat!
Crafting the perfect scrambled eggs is a real skill that takes genuine patience. Rush them and all you get is a solid lump, but take your time and cook them on a low heat, with real care and attention, and you’ll have the dreamiest, creamiest eggs to spoon onto your gluten free toast. Pair them with some smoked salmon for an extra special treat, or try stirring in a little parsley or chives, or a touch of cream if you’re feeling really indulgent.
There’s a reason that omelettes are a staple of student life, and that’s because they are so flexible and so easy to cook. You can chuck in almost anything you have in the fridge to create a mouth-watering breakfast in minutes. Our favourites include spinach and goats cheese, ham and mushroom and cheese and onion, although you really can throw in almost anything. Alternatively, you can just leave it plain, with a pinch of salt and pepper for flavour. Fold and serve with a thickly buttered slice of your favourite gluten free bread and you’ll be sorted until lunch.
A standard sausage butty is simple, but with a little extra effort and flair, you can create a sausage and egg butty that looks every bit as good as it tastes. Instead of plain sausages, use gluten free sausage meat, shaped into round patties and fried. Then cook your fried egg inside a large metal pastry cutter to give you the perfect round shape. Cut around the outside of the same pastry cutter (with a generous margin) to make circular bread slices to match, or simply use a gluten free bun. Build it all together and you’ll have an impressive breakfast butty that even a certain burger chain would be proud of.
Of course, if you’re in a rush, or cutting back on the fried food, you can always just enjoy toast made from our new gluten free fresh bread range on its own. You can simply spread it and scoff it, or you can add some marmalade, jam or honey to taste, and you’ll be set for the day in minutes, with a healthy dose of fibre, calcium and folic acid baked into every slice.
We’d love to hear about your favourite breakfasts using our tasty new gluten free fresh bread range, or any tips and tricks you use to put a new twist on old favourites. Send us your suggestions and we may feature them on a future breakfast blog for your fellow coeliacs to share and enjoy.
