We’re often told how much people hate missing out on gluten containing favourites, so why not recreate this fast food staple at home.  A delicious gluten free sandwich, comprising of a tasty sausage patty topped with melted cheese and finished with an egg.  Just add your favourite sauce – but do you prefer red or brown?

  • Ingredients

    Down
  • 4 slices Glutafin Gluten Free Select Fresh White Sliced Loaf
    4 gluten-free sausages (or approx 250g sausagemeat)
1 tbs chopped fresh herbs – parsley, thyme or chives work well (or ½ tsp dried mixed herbs)
    2 slices cheese
    2 free range eggs
    Oil for frying
    Tomato ketchup

  • Method

    Down
    1. Make the sausage patties – squeeze the meat out of the sausage skins into a bowl and add the chopped herbs. Some sausages don’t have thick skins so just break them up a little first. Using clean hands, mix the herbs thoroughly into the sausagemeat.
    2. Divide into two balls then shape each into a round pattie, about the same width as a slice of the bread.
    3. Fry the sausage patties for a few minutes on each side until cooked through. Lift each one onto a slice of Glutafin white bread and lay a slice of cheese on top of each.
    4. Add a little oil to the frying pan and fry the eggs until the whites are cooked – if you like, you can fry them in a non-stick metal “egg ring” so they’re perfectly round. Lay the fried eggs on top of the sausage patties. Add a second slice of bread and serve with ketchup.
