Gluten Free Lunch Ideas For Coeliac Children

The end of August has fast approached, marking the last of our (so called) summer. True to the British name it was filled with the odd scattering of sunshine and a fair few rain showers, which kept us on our toes.

However, the end of August also sparks something exciting. September is right around the corner - with it bringing a new chapter. We understand this can mean a mad rush of new uniforms, early starts and agitated children… why not have one less thing to worry about with Glutafin.  

Here are our top three gluten free lunch box ideas to keep your children’s tummies happy and their concentration high. We’ve put together a lunch filled with lots of healthy carbohydrates, protein and good fats so that you don’t have too!

We understand lunches can be difficult when going back to school, you take the time to make a lovely packed lunch… only to find it comes back pretty much the same, if not a little mushy.

Here are some of our tips to hopefully encourage lunch eating and variety!

1. Wrap warm food items tightly in tin foil and pack into a container, such as the Gluten Free Select Sage and Onion Sausage Roll or Gluten Free Select Vegetable Pasty. This will keep food warm till lunch time, which may be more appetising, especially in the winter months!

2. Never be caught off guard - If you are making a batch of gluten free goodies, it is very likely they won't want the same thing all week! Freeze any extras in portion sized bags. These can be removed the night before all set for the next day (such as the traybakes, cookies, pasta and pastries).

3. If a lot of your child's friends are having school dinners, you may have a green eyed monster on your hands! Schools often have a plan of which foods they're serving that week. Therefore, you could always ask the school in advance and prepare a similar lunch using our wide range of online recipes - or if there are some recipes you're unfamiliar with, you can always call our careline!
