Walnut and Onion Bread Recipe

A subtle blend of flavours combined in a crusty round loaf. Great for serving with soup, cheese, or cut in wedges with pâté. The recipe uses dried minced onion, which is concentrated in flavour. When mixed with boiling water leave for the full 10 minutes to allow the flavours to infuse.
Cooking time:
Oven temperature: 200 C / Gas mark 6
Ingredients
- 250g / 9oz Glutafin Select Bread Mix
- 1/2 x 5ml tsp Salt
- 1 x 5ml tsp Dried yeast
- 1 x 15ml tbsp Light and mild olive oil
- 1 x 5ml tsp Dried minced onion
- 110ml / 4fl oz Boiling water (combined and soaked for 10 mins)
- 75ml / 3fl oz Cold water
- 50g / 2oz Roughly chopped walnuts
- 1 x 5ml tsp Vegetable oil for brushing
Method
* Proving time: 45 minutes
1.Place the Glutafin Bread Mix into a medium size bowl with the salt and dried yeast and mix together.
2.Add the remaining ingredients and combine together with a fork to a smooth wet dough.
3.Spoon onto a greased and lined baking sheet and shape into an approximate 15cm / 6" round.
4.Brush with the oil and cover loosely with film. Leave to prove for 45 minutes in a warm place until the mixture has spread and risen by about a third.
5.Remove the film and bake until crisp and golden in colour.
