Delicious crunchy irregular shaped breadsticks great for serving with cheese or dips.

You will need:

Preparation time:

Cooking time:
12 minutes

Oven temperature: 220 C / Gas mark 7
Makes:
8

Ingredients

270g/10oz Glutafin Select Multipurpose White Mix
1 x 5ml tsp Easy blend dried yeast (enclosed with mix)
¼ x 5ml tsp Salt
25g/1oz Parmesan cheese (grated)
1 x 5ml tsp Dried oregano
25g/1oz Pesto paste
1 Medium egg, lightly whisked
1 x 15ml tbsp Olive oil
110ml/4fl oz Hand hot water

Extra
1 x 5ml tsp Olive oil for shaping and brushing

Method

* Proving time: 30 minutes

1.Put all the dry ingredients into a large bowl and mix thoroughly with a fork.
2.Mix the pesto, egg, oil and water into the dried ingredients using the fork to make a smooth batter.
3.Place dough on a work surface lightly dusted with Select White Mix and divide into 8 even sized pieces. Knead each piece until smooth.
4.Roll out each dough strip to form 20cm/8" long sticks. The sticks do not have to be of even thickness as the irregular shape helps to give them their rustic appeal.
5.Transfer sticks to a lightly greased baking sheet. Brush with oil and cover with cling film.
6.Leave to rise in a warm place for 30–40 minutes. The sticks will not rise as much as proving bread because the dough mix is fairly heavy.
7.Remove film and bake in a pre-heated oven for 10–12 minutes until golden.

Gluten-free, wheat-free option
Use 250g/9oz Glutafin Gluten free Wheat free White Mix, 150ml/5fl oz hand hot water and remaining ingredients as shown.

To freeze
Place breadsticks in an airtight bag. Heat from frozen in a warm oven for 8-10 minutes

Tip
Brush with milk and sprinkle with sesame or sunflower seeds.
