Dutch Apple Tart Recipe

Dutch Apple Tart - Glutafin gluten free recipes

An open tart made with a sweet cinnamon pastry and filled with almond custard topped with sliced dessert apple. Eat warm or cold.




You will need:



Preparation time:

Cooking time:
35 minutes

Oven temperature: 180°C / Gas mark 5
Makes:
1 x 20cm / 8" Tart (to serve 8)



Ingredients

Pastry

225g/8oz Glutafin Select Multipurpose White Mix
1/2 x 5ml tsp Ground cinnamon*
50g/2oz Each of butter and vegetable lard, at room temperature
1 Medium egg
1 x 15ml tbsp Cold water
25g/1oz Caster sugar


Filling

150g/5oz Half fat crème fraîche
50g/2oz Ground almonds
50g/2oz Caster sugar
½ x 5ml tsp Ground mixed spice*
2 Medium egg yolks


Topping

50g/2oz Mixed sultanas and raisins
2 Medium Braeburn or dessert apples (peeled, cored and finely sliced)

Method

1. Make the pastry. Place about half of the measured White mix into a bowl with all the remaining ingredients except the sugar. Mix together with a fork to make a smooth paste.
2. Work in the remaining pastry mix and sugar using the fork and then by hand. Lightly knead pastry on a work surface lightly dusted with a little mix until smooth.
3.Roll out pastry and use to line a loose-based flan tin.
4. Wrap and chill the pastry for 20 minutes
5.Combine filling ingredients together, reserving a tablespoonful of ground almonds, and spoon into the pastry case. Sprinkle with the sultanas and raisins and top with the sliced apple and reserved ground almonds.
6.Rest prepared tart onto a preheated baking tray and cook until the pastry is golden, the filling lightly set and the apple is cooked.


Gluten-free, wheat-free option
Use 225g/8 oz Glutafin Gluten Free Wheat Free Multipurpose White Mix and remaining ingredients as shown
