Hello my name is Jen and Welcome to another Love Food blog.
Last night I went to Dough Pizza restaurant in Manchester with 4 of my friends. We didn’t choose the restaurant because it was gluten free, but because of the fantastic flavour and crazy toppings on the pizzas, but for me it helped that they offer a wide selection of gluten free and wheat free pizzas and pasta. In fact there were only 4 of the options I couldn’t choose compared to my friends. The menu is fantastic as they clearly label the pizza and pasta with both gluten and dairy free logos!
Of course, we all wanted a starter, but decided to have the ‘Dough to dip’ platter to share. This is 8 dough sticks (small baguettes) and a range of different dips. I asked for 2 of the dough sticks to be gluten free. I was very impressed because not only did they ensure my two sticks were gluten free but brought me additional dips for me to have for myself to avoid cross contamination. This is very impressive for a restaurant as they not only serve gluten free but understand in detail about how gluten intolerant customers can get those painful symptoms.
I choose the tasty Goats Cheese Pizza for my main gluten free meal, but I would also recommend from the last time I went the West Indies pizza, a little crazy with bananas as one of the toppings but it tastes amazing. The only downside is the dough sticks and pizzas do come out partially baked, thin and a little tougher than pizzas I make at home, as they use gluten free flour rather than a mix such as Glutafin Multipurpose White Mix. But the flavours on the pizza help overcome this texture, and the staff service really does make you want to come back again.

Thanks Dough! Let’s hope the restaurant becomes more widely available across the UK!

Hi, I have been going to Dough in the Northern Quarter, Manchester since it opened and they have recently added GFpasta to their menu, which I still have to try and also GF brownies, which I also havent managed to try yet as non GF customers love them so much, they always run out when I get there. I also love the goats cheese pizza, but agree they are rather thin and difficult to cut, but it is lovely to be able to order the same as friends. The calzone dessert is also really nice. The staff are very knowledgable and obliging and never rush you no matter how busy they are. Well worth a visit!
