I finally got around to ordering my prescription the other day, having spent a ridiculous amount of money on shop-bought gluten free flour.
I ordered the Glutafin Fibre Bread Mix, as my Dad bought me a bread machine and I have been making my own bread.
Everyone who has been on a gluten-free diet for a couple of years will know how awful the bread is- crumbly, dry, falls apart. Familiar descriptions, huh? Well, this Glutafin Fibre Bread Mix is incredible.
I was diagnosed when I was 4 so I've never had real bread. Just because I'd never had it didn't mean I thought the GF stuff was amazing, because... well... it isn't the best thing since sliced bread. Anyway, I made a loaf of this glutafin fibre bread and it looks and tastes and folds and holds together just like wheaty bread.
Oh, and they're not the size of toy bread either. We're talking huge loaves here.
Go! Get this mix! You'll be as happy as I am!

Just to let everyone know that the glutafin multipurpose white mix 500g is FANTASTIC for making BATTERS to cover fish and onion rings. Just dust the fish or onions in cornflour first. The batter is better than anything I tasted before being diagnosed with Coeliac. It takes a little longer to cook, but is so crunchy and beautiful. Also I make a mean chocolate cake with the same white mix.

Just tried your new white roll (Glutafin Select Part-Baked 4 White Rolls), fantastic product! I have been waiting for ages to have some normal tasting GF bread. These will be at the top of my prescription order from now on. Many thanks.

I have been diagnosed in November 2008 after many years of generally feeling unwell and being Anameic. I found it very upsetting at first and overwhelming. When your parcel arrived with all my Glutafin goodies it really cheered me up. I love all the products and am now ordering them on my prescription. It was so nice to realise that I am not alone and reading other peoples comments really give you strength and helps you cope. Many thanks again

A big Thank You to you all, having just swapped my prescription to Glutafin, I can't thank you enough, it's wonderful to be able to eat normally and to taste bread as it should be. I have suffered for many years with pain, and now have been diagnosed with diverculitis, but in the short time of trying your products I feel it's like winning the lottery. With having being Coeliac for many years and now they think I probably had it since being born, it's only now I feel that I'm eating properly with the help of you and your team. I wish you all a Very Happy Christmas and a Happy 2009. Many Thanks, Julie.

Hello Glutafin, I am writing to thank you so much for the parcel you have just sent to me, what a suprise to find so many things in it! I will be trying them shortly, that's such a nice thing for you to do for me as I have been feeling a bit low wondering what to have as I am very new to this. Thanks again, Valerie Daniels

Hello everyone. I just wanted to share my joy and discovering the best gluten free flour for making chapattis. I am from Indian origin and over the past year I have really struggled to make decent chapattis with gluten free flour. BUT now I have discovered Glutafin Multipurpose Fibre Mix (New Recipe) which is fantastic!! I used to make the family chapattis and do without for myself which as you can imagine was so soul destroying, but now with the aid of this new flour, I enjoy chapattis on a daily basis. The flour is much more easy to knead and is not sticky like other flours. I love it and totally recommend to chapatti lovers like myself. Komal

Wow, my hamper arrived this morning, thank you. My GP will be well impressed, as she could not advise me much on the actual taste of different products. Thank you so much, will keep the wife happy for a while.
Kind regards Ken

Hello and fabulous website, we have my stepson just moved in with us, he is diagnosed with Coeliacs. We eat healthy balanced meals so not much has changed for us at all, although I do now bake more goodies (cakes and crumpets, etc) which I did not tend to do much of. Keep up the excellent work and recipes! Tracey :)

Thank you, also, for the free sample of Select brown loaf, which I enjoyed very much.

Hi John, thank you very much for your positive feedback it's good to hear our work on improving recipes is appreciated.

Congratulations on the improvements to your Select Gluten Free Sliced Fibre Loaf.  The bigger slices are better and especially the separation of the slices.  Before the improvement every slice had to be separated witha knife... a messy chore.

Hi J Bethal. Thank you for the feedback on our web-site it's good to know it is a great help for people like yourselves. Don't forget our live chat facility if you ever feel the need to talk to someone.

As I have just this week been diagnosed with coeliac disease it was great to find a site like this as I now feel that there is some light at the end of that big dark tunnel. I asked at my doctor's for some info but they only handed me a leaflet and left me to get on with it so once again I would like to say a big thank you just for being there.

Hi Sam. Pleased to hear you love the website and the recipe ideas.
We apologise for the delay with the lasagne, it is due to the fact that we have been working on improving the recipe.
The product is now back in stock, and we hope you enjoy!

Posted 1st April 2008 Sam

Hi, love this website, particularly the great recipe ideas. One question though. Can anyone tell me why I've not been able to get hold of wheat free lasagne for the last 3 months or so?

Posted 1st April 2008, Glutafin Careline

Hi Nora,
Thank you for your enquiry regarding the Glutafin wheat free fibre mix.
This product has been out of stock due to a problem with the raw materials, however we are expecting stocks to be with the wholesalers by next week.

Posted 1st April 2008  Nora Balm

Hi There,  could you give me any idea when your Glutafin Glueten free wheat free fibre mix will be instock. Yours sincerely Nora.

Posted 1st April 2008, Glutafin Careline

Hi Mary,

Thank you for your enquiry regarding the white mix and breadmaker.
We do not recommend using the white mix in the breadmaker as it is not very successful.
You would achieve better results if you use the Glutafin breadmix, where you will find a recipe for the breadmaker on the packet.

Posted 1st April 2008,Mary Whitehouse

Hi, I'm looking to use Glutafin wheat free white mix to make bread in the beradmaker but the recipe on the pack is for oven baking. What's the breadmaker recipe?

Dear Nathan
Thank you for contacting Glutafin.

Reference sponge cakes - now you have been diagnosed with Coeliac Disorder, but can have dairy products, the best cakes can be made with Glutafin Select White Mix or Glutafin Cake Mix. The cake mix has the recipe on the box but since it was developed we have found using butter at room temperature works better than any margarine. Make sure eggs are room temperature and medium size. If you are using the Select White Mix which can be used for breads, pastry, cakes and sauces the recipe is as follows:

250g Mix, 1 x 5ml tsp gluten free baking powder, 110g soft butter, 1 x 5ml tsp natural extract of vanilla (not flavouring) 2 medium eggs, 1 x 15ml tablespoon water.

Whisk together with an electric whisk for 2 minutes. Spoon into 2 x 18cm/7" lined and greased shallow cake tin. Oven bake for 25mins at 180oC/350oF/Gas 4 until the centre springs back when lightly touched.

You should get a delicious light and fluffy sponge which is not at all dry. Sometimes if you put too much baking powder in the cake can feel dry in the mouth so measure accurately.

Have a look on the web site for Chocolate Fudge Cake which is a good one for Easter. Coming soon is a very moist apple and raisin cake made with Select Fibre Mix.

Please contact us again to tell us how your baking is going,

kind regards

Kay

Good afternoon Laurence. Welcome to our website and thanks for your feedback!
Unfortunately our products are only available on prescription and aren’t sold on-line. You can use our prescription form to easily obtain foods from your GP or pharmacist. You can simply download it from
this site. The form includes special ordering numbers called PIP codes. These are listed next to each item. In the case of Select Bread Mix the code is 274 – 4951. So all you need to do is just find your product on the list, quote the quantity that you require, print the form and hand it to your GP or pharmacist. For more information about prescriptions please refer to above mentioned page. You will find there a downloadable Prescription Guide from which you can learn how to make savings with annual prescription pre-payment certificate.
If you need more information please feel free to call our Careline on 0800 988 2470. Regards. Peter

Can I buy Glutafin Select Bread Mix on line.
Thank you.

Posted, 22 February 2008, James Arthurs, Glutafin Brand Manager UK

Hi Jai. Thanks for your feedback. A good place to start is this page. There's a downloadable PDF document on the page which explains the prescribing guidelines in detail. We're currently in the process of re-writing this doc. In fact the new version is currently at the printers! As soon as they're printed we'll send you a copy. Also, if you register a My Glutafin account you can build an online prescription. All you have to do is print that out and take it to your GP. If you still require more info just pick up the phone and call us...we're more than happy to help in anyway we can! have a nice weekend! James
