Select or Gluten Free Wheat Free range which one is right for me

What’s the difference between gluten free and gluten and wheat free?

All people with coeliac disease are intolerant to gluten and therefore require a gluten free diet to help the small intestine recover and absorb food normally again.

Gluten free foods can contain a specially manufactured ingredient called’ gluten free wheat starch’, which helps to provide better baking qualities and a lighter texture. This ingredient is manufactured specifically to be suitable for people with coeliac disease and is often referred to as ‘Codex wheat starch’. The gluten is simply washed out to a trace level which is considered to be safe for people with coeliac disease.

Products containing Codex wheat starch are gluten free but not wheat free and are suitable for the majority of people with coeliac disease. However, a small minority of people may later be advised by their dietitian to also eliminate wheat starch, in which case the gluten and wheat free range would be most suitable.

Glutafin Select is our range of gluten free breads and mixes containing Codex wheat starch. Each product benefits from the improved baking qualities that the wheat starch provides.

Glutafin Gluten Free Wheat Free products are based on a combination of maize, potato, rice and soya flours.
