Could you have coeliac disease?

Have I got coeliac disease?

                     could I have coeliac disease?

It's estimated that one in 100 people in the UK may have coeliac disease (an autoimmune condition triggered by an intolerance to gluten, a protein found in wheat, rye or barley). Only approximately a quarter of people are actually diagnosed.

Symptoms of coeliac disease can be varied.

The most common symptoms are diarrhoea, weight loss and abdominal pain however, some may experience atypical symptoms such as fatigue, anaemia and joint pains.

The condition can affect men and woman of all ages and can sometimes start in infancy, during weaning. If you think that you, or someone you know might have coeliac disease, we recommend that you make an appointment with your GP to get tested.
